Die Erfindung der Achsschenkellenkung bedeutete, die äußeren, radtragenden Teile nicht mehr fest an der vorderen – damals noch üblichen – Starrachse anzubringen, sondern schwenkbar. Die Achsschenkellenkung ist die Weiterentwicklung der Drehschemellenkung und wird bei Automobilen ausschließlich verwendet.
